It wasn't unusual for Kise to have a multitude of fangirls watch him at practice. It was as though he was on a tracking device and the girls were bloodhounds, constantly sniffing him out. There were the odd practices where very few to none showed up, if not because of the principle yelling at them to go home, it was Kasamatsu's anger that scared them off. It's not as though he hated girls. Rather, he was never good with dealing with them. There was something about them, he couldn't put it into words, that made the captain stutter and blush.

So instead, he chose to focus on his schooling and the basketball team. He had confidence in those and it was rather easier to deal with than attempting to talk with women. Still, there was one girl that caught his attention, despite him arguing with himself over his feelings. And that was Kise's best friend, [Last Name] [First Name].

There were a couple reasons why he denies having a crush on her. For one, she was two years younger than him, which meant their relationship would be difficult to maintain after he graduates. The second reason? She was too good for him. There's no way a girl like her would even consider someone like him. Sure, he was the captain and he was a good player, but he wasn't Kise. He didn't have the talent he did, as much as he annoyed the crap out of him. Someone like her would be better for a guy like Kise, and that's what he told himself.

So it honestly shocked him when she showed up to practice, which caused Kise to cry in happiness as he ran towards her.

"[Name]-cchi!"

He grabbed her in a bear hug, practically spinning her around the gym, as she attempted to struggle out of his grasp.

"Ryouta-kun! I'm gonna be sick! Put me down!"

She tried to keep the small gift hidden in her jacket, not wanting anyone to see the blue wrapping paper. As she continued to struggle, she watched from the corner of her eye as her crush approached them, kicking the back of Kise's legs. He yelped before falling to his knees, his grip on her body tightening. Her eyes narrowed before her knee caught him in the stomach, releasing a gasp from his mouth as his arms loosened, letting her out of his hold.

"Idiot! [Name] said she wanted to be put down! That doesn't mean keep spinning!"

Holding his stomach, Kise wailed, "Kasamatsu-senpai and [Name]-cchi are so mean!~"

Sighing, she ruffled her hair, keeping her eyes away from the stern captain. Normally she wasn't one to stutter or be nervous, considering her best friend was one of the most handsome guys in school, but the captain always made her feel butterflies in her stomach. If she spared him even a small glance, she would lose herself in his stare. Of course when Kise found out about her little crush, he constantly teased her, which earned him several slaps to the head.

"Are you here to watch Kise practice, [Name]?" Kobori questioned, as he approached the small rowdy group.

Shaking her head, she smiled, "No. The idiot forgot his homework and I got in shit by the teacher again. Apparently I'm his babysitter and I'm always getting into trouble for his mistakes."

Wrapping his arms around her neck, Kise rubbed his face against hers, causing her hands to clench, "Ne, isn't [Name]-cchi the best? She really loves me!"

Her eyebrow twitched before she smacked his face with her bag, "I don't love you! You're such a nuisance and everyone expects me to watch after you! I'm not your babysitter! And your fangirls are so annoying! They're always hounding me about stupid crap! I keep telling you not to do this at school but you stubbornly refuse to listen!"

Kise grabbed her ankles as he cried, "Why doesn't [Name]-cchi love me?!~"

Kobori gave an uneasy smile before heading towards Moriyama and Hayakawa, leaving Kasamatsu to stand in front of the two first years. He saw [Name] rub her forehead in annoyance as she continued to yell at the blond, uncaring of what comes from her mouth. This is why she's too perfect for him. Both their personalities were similar and they had so much in common, but with the way Kise always hung around her, it was obvious they were together.

Shaking his head, he chose to ignore the ache in his chest before he started to turn away, "Kise. We have practice. Leave [Name] alone and let's go."

Blinking, he looked up at his captain, a frown on his face, "Does senpai hate [Name]-cchi? I won't let you go near her if you hate her!"

He felt heat rush to his cheeks as her [eye color] eyes looked at him. She shook her head, mumbling about how idiotic Kise was and this caused a smile to creep at the corner of his lips.

"I appreciate you bringing Kise's homework for him. I'm sorry this was such a bother."

Shrugging, she smiled, "It wasn't much trouble. I was planning on coming here anyway."

Before he could open his mouth, a small blue gift was in his face. He looked down at it before looking up at her, seeing a blush on her face. He felt his face heat up as she shoved it at him, stepping out of Kise's grasp. Quickly, she waved at the other three before running out of the gym, ignoring the confused gaze from the captain. He couldn't take his eyes off the small package, noting how soft it was. It wasn't heavy either so he couldn't figure out what it was. His steel-blue eyes were wide when Kise stood up, looking at the blue wrapping paper with a smirk.

"Ah. So that's who it's for. I was wondering why she was making it."

Kasamatsu had to blink several times before Kise's words registered in his mind.

"[Name] made this?"

"Well open it senpai!"

Not knowing what to say, he gently unwrapped the gift to see a brand new pair of kneesocks. They were black but had a blue trim at the top. Engraved in the material were the words, "Go for it Captain!". He was speechless, unable to form any sort of sentence or sound as he looked up from the socks to Kise, as if questioning why she made them.

He shrugged, "[Name]-cchi asked me one day why you always wore the same pair. I told her I didn't know and she thought you needed new ones. Of course I was teasing her about it the entire time because she was so serious about making them. As punishment, she dragged me to several stores to get the right wool. I've never seen her so determined about making a gift. Every time she had a free period, she was working on them. I'm surprised no one questioned her about it at school."

Kasamatsu didn't know what to say. He felt so touched she'd go through all this trouble just to make them. The fabric sat between his fingers, somehow calming his racing heart. There were no words to express how happy he was. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he coughed before his expression turned serious, causing Kise to blink.

"Let's go, Kise. We have practice."

He shook his head in disbelief, his arms resting on his lips, before letting out a laugh. He chose to keep his mouth shut, but he couldn't stop the smirk from hitting his lips.

"See, [Name]-cchi? Told you he'd like them!"
